ARKAT'S PARTNER, KING ABDULAZIZ UNIVERSITY, JEDDAH, SAUDI ARABIA
King Abdulaziz University was established in 1967 as a national university affording higher education in the western area of Saudi Arabia with the support of King Faisal and the then Minister of Education, Sheikh Hasam Bin Abdullah Al Al-Sheikh.
After an inaugural program in 1968 (with a student body of 98), the College of Economics and Management was established in 1969 followed by the College of Arts and Human Sciences in 1970. The national university became a government university in 1974 and the College of Shareal and College of Higher Education (established in 1949) were incorporated at the same time. This change enabled King Abdulaziz University to expand to a total student body of 82,152 and to achieve distinction among higher educational institutions in the Kingdom.
The University comprises separate campuses for men and women (in conformity with Islamic tradition) each with their own libraries and cultural, recreational and athletic facilities. During the last four decades the University has established a distinguished reputation in a number of scientific and theoretical fields including specializations such as Sea Sciences, Geology, Nuclear and Medical Engineering, Meteorology and Mineralization.
In 2011 King Abdulaziz University (KAU) joined with Arkat USA, Inc., as a partner to publish Arkivoc and to co-organize the Florida Heterocyclic and Synthetic Conferences held each year.
